What are Digital Skills?
Digital skills consist in knowingly using the technologies of the Information Society (TSI) for work, leisure and communication. It is supported by basic ICT skills (Information and Communication Technologies): the use of computers to find, evaluate, store, produce, present and exchange information as well as to communicate and participate in collaborative networks via the Internet / recommendation of the European Parliament and of the Council of December, European Parliament 2006). The same definition was also adopted by the Agency for Digital Italy, the AGID.
What are Digital Hard Skills?
The Digital Hard Skills are the Basic Technical Skills, specific, which define a professional figure. They can be acquired at school, at the university, with masters and specialization courses, but also in the workplace.
What are the characteristics of Digital Hard Skill?
Digital Hard Skills are quantifiable Digital Skills, such as knowing how to use computer programs and packages, knowledge of programming languages and the ability to use specific machinery and tools for production. In particular, this category includes the technical skills concerning Social, Mobile, Analytics, Cloud, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, IoT, Cybersecurity.
What are Digital Soft Skills?
The Digital Hard Skills are Digital Skills that are part of the transversal skills, which concern the relationships and behavior of people in any working context, allowing the new digital tools to be used effectively. Digital Soft Skills are not learned at school or at work, and are difficult to quantify: they depend on the culture, personality and experiences lived by the individual, they are closely connected to the way they interact, communicate and cooperate in teams.
Here is a classification and description of the Digital Soft Skills:
- Knowledge networking: It is the ability to identify, save, organize, add value and share information available online on social networks and in virtual communities.
- Specific Knowledge Networking Skills: Browse, search and filter data, information and digital content; evaluate data, information and digital content; develop digital content; integrate and rework digital content; manage data, information and digital content, share with digital technologies.
- Virtual Communication: It is the ability to effectively communicate, coordinate projects and manage one's digital identity in digital environments.
- Specific skills of Virtual Communication: Interacting with digital technologies; collaborate through digital technologies; manage digital identity, structure digital content in a visual way.
- Digital Awareness: It means being able to understand the correct use of digital tools with due attention to the balance between professional life and personal health.
- Specific Digital Awareness Skills: protecting devices; protect personal data and privacy; protect health and well-being; netiquette
- Self Empowerment: means having the necessary knowledge and mastering digital tools to solve problems; be able to solve complex problems through a conscious use of digital tools.
- Specific Empowerment Skills: solving technical problems; identify technological needs and responses; identify the digital competence gaps.
What is the Digital Mismatch?
The Digital Mismatch (or even Digital Skills Gap) is the gap between the skills possessed by workers and those that the world of work requires today. The demand for Digital Skills is experiencing exponential growth, however there is still no adequate response in terms of university and business training. In a world in full Digital Transformation, in every field and industry, it is necessary to redevelop the entire workforce to digital skills.
What are the most requested digital professions in the coming years?
In the coming years, 133 million jobs will be created by 2022, for a total of 58 million new job opportunities and digital professions. Jobs with growing demand will be those that require a high technology usage (data analysts, software and application developers, social and eCommerce experts, machine learning and artificial intelligence specialists, automation experts). , man-machine interaction designers, robotic engineers, big data experts) or jobs where specifically human skills are required (customer service, sales people, marketing, training, culture, organization and innovation specialists). What must companies do to compete in the digital age?
